Really kind!!!!! Always amazes me how helpful people on this site are!!!! Wonderful, thank you.

My relative was the wife of John Thomas so that was helpful. Bit confused by the Severn Street and Hill Street listing for the Acorn. I think you helped me earlier horsencart with The Acorn's existence in Severn Street in 1917, but not after. Today, those streets are close, but not that close.

It seems as if the Acorn changed the street in which it was listed.
In 1921 the listing in Kellys for the Acorn is:
Acorn P.H. Jn. Thos. Toon. 80 Hill St
but in 1915 the listing was:
Acorn, Frederick Joseph Lilly. 1 Severn St & 80 Hill St

The pub was on the corner ,as can be seen in the c 1889 map below.
However the electoral roll only seems to list it in Severn St. In 1922 the occupant was Arthur Joseph Conway, so tJohn toon had gone by the the time the electoral roll had been made up.(sometime in 1921). Apparently the pub disappeared in the blitz, when it was bombed

1925 John Thomas was listed at The Cross Keys, Hurst Street with Janet Elizabeth Toon.
1927 Janet was listed there alone
Marriages Jun 1906 Birmingham 6d 2
John Thomas Toon
Janet Elizabeth Chrimes
Incidentally,John Toon was listed at 82 Smallbrook Street with Hannah Rollason Chrimes and James Charles Chrimes in 1922.

That's wonderful! Can I ask where you found that info or am I being dense?
Thank you so much!

An unusual name, though looking at the 1911 census not as unusual as I thought. No relationship between Eric's Toon family and the OPs Toon family.

I did notice that Eric's elder brother was killed in the war, buried in Burma.

Last address listed, Kingstanding Road, died 2011.
