Tomlinson - Looking for Ellen's family

thelids

proper brummie kid
Hi
Can anyone help. I have Ellen Tomlinson's marriage certificate and have located a number of records following her marriage but none before. She married William Palser on 25th Dec 1855 aged 22 (so born about 1833) her father is listed as Samuel Tomlinson a labourer. From 1871 cenuses and following she is listed as being born on Birmingham Warwickshire. Other than that I can't trace anything (ie prior to marriage) Can anyone tell me who her mother was? Her Fathers D.O.B etc.
Thanks in advance

Hi thelids, i cant find anything definite but have found these two "possibles".

1841 living westheath, alvechurch, worcs.

samuel tomlinson ag. lab. aged 30, mary tomlinson 45, and ellen tomlinson 8. all b. worc.

1851 living 55 hill st. birmingham

ellen tomlinson 16 gen. servant b. westheath, warwickshire. unmarried.

living with thomas and sophia bramwick, and their son thomas.

theres also a marriage of a samuel tomlinson to a mary parsonage on 12 oct 1830 at st. phillips, birmingham

Hi Shera
Thanks for such a quick reply. I found the Samuel and Mary Parsonage marriage earlier this morning on Familysearch - but could make a definite link. The info in the first message you sent I had not found because I was looking for Ellen born in Birmingham Warwickshire - not Worcestershire. I'll do a bit more digging on your suggestions.
I did find a Emma Tomlinson born 1836 to Samuel and Mary(1851 census) - I thought this might be a sister, but the parents are listed at Samuel and Mary Bullus - very confusing... I'll keep searching, if you or anyone else finds anymore info please let me know.
Thanks again

i saw the other census you referred to but feel the one above is much more likely as samuel was a porter on the other census but was an agricultural lab. on the one i gave you. also although the 1841 says born westheath, worcestershire, but in the 1851 census westheath is classed as warwickshire.
i wondered whether they were actually from bham and had the marriage at st phillips, but then moved to westheath for samuels work, then ellen came back to birmingham.
i hope you manage to find out, all the best, shera
