toll gate keeper

miss muffett

proper brummie kid
Hi ,
According to her wedding cert,my 3rd x great grandmother ,was a toll gate keeper .
On the cert she lived at sutton Coldfield so any way I can find out where the tollgate was please?
Would she be documented anywhere etc?
She was written down as ''widow'' on the wedding cert so maybe she and her 1st hubby were both t.g.k??Was that possible?Their names were Ann and Charles Salisbury.
Just curious!!(This lady has proved elusive and is still a big mystery to me!).

BGFL is the best site that I ever found dealing with toll roads / gates. Here is a map that I saved from that website & also Peter Walker's map. There are various pictures available of turnpike cottages on the web if you want to see something generic. The turnpike cottage still stands on Smethwick High St.
