Does anyone know where in Brum tin trays were made?
I have found in my family tree I have 2 ancestors who were in this trade.
Tried to Google but came up with a very interesting piece that said...
Custom, class and change: the trade societies of Birmingham*
There had, of course, always been some larger manufacturing concerns in the town, ..... Defending the right to combine, a member of the tin-plate ..... In 1831 a blank tray maker was assaulted and thrown into a canal by a crowd of 100 ...

I would love to find out from old papers what happened to the chap thrown into the canal, but am not very clever with finding newspaper articles.
Perhaps someone will know how on our site I am sure.
Regards
Derek
