hi all...thought you may like to see a few then and now pics from a book i was given yesterday...hard to imagine what brum looked liked years back...as you will see the now pics were actually taken in the 70s...apologies in advance if these have been on before but i think its always worth a shot..

The moat..
Lyn, with reference to The Moat photograph after the markets demolition, attached is a scene which may have been recorded only a few days earlier.
I've entitled it "BirminghamBurning"...the rubble is all that remains of the Victorian hotel on the corner of Jamaica Row and Edgbaston Street.

Lynn great photos again. Especially Newhall Street as I had relatives living at No 163 (Biddulph) in 1880. It means I can attach this photo to my family info' Thanks Carol

so pleased the newhall st pic means somthing to your family history carolina....
 
I think the hotel mentioned in richie's pictures must be the Sydenham hotel. would anyone like to confirm this ?
