Hi,

I am looking for information on a company called Theatricals Limited Birmingham or Birmingham Theatricals Limited.

I believe they were around in the later 1800's to early 1900's.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Simon

Hi Simon, Welcome to the forum, looked through Kelly's Directories for 1883, 1895 and 1900 cannot find any entries for either name.

There is, or was, a company called Birmingham Theatrical Costume Hire Ltd in the general area of Hurst St/Pershore St. Would this be the company you're looking for?

There was also a theatrical hire company in King Edward's Place off Broad Street, but can't remember the name. Long gone, now. And a theatrical costumier used to be in Paradise Street, but again I can't remember its name.

Hi,

Thanks for welcoming me to the Forum.

Thanks for the replies. All I have got to go on is the name of Birmingham Theatricals Limited or Theatricals Limited Birmingham.

It may be that they might be earlier than 1890 or later than the 1900's, perhaps right into the 1920's. I know this is all very vague but it's all I've got.

Cheers

Simon

Hi Maurice,

Took your advice and in just 5 minutes what did I find??...............A notice in the Gazette on 28th May 1918 for a meeting of the Creditors and then again in 9th September 1919 Gazette, the winding up order by the Liquidator, set for the 20th September 1919.

Both meetings were set for 91 Snowhill which ties in exactly with the address Ladylinda gave me.

All I can say is ''wow''. I thought that it would take me ages to find out any info but its taken me just one night to register to this Forum and get this info.

Thank you very much. If any one knows anything else, that would be great.

Simon
