Loving these pub pictures Lyn. Passed the Devonshire Arms on Lodge Road, Winson Green yesterday. It seems to be a "Jerk Chicken" pub with the best of English and Carribbean food (it says on the notice). I used to go there in the 70s when it was a half and a packet of pork scratchings!

Hi Everyone, I am writing a book for my family on our family's history. I have been lucky enough to go as far back as the 1600's but it's the 1900's that I am passionate about. My mum is 93 and living with me. She has so many stories of my grandparents getting drunk every night at the Talbot Pub and how all social activities centered around this public house. Unfortunately it has now been pulled down so I am hoping some lovely person will have a good photograph they could email me of this place that was the centre of my grandparent's lives. Mum and her siblings didn't have a good childhood because of their drunken parents but it's part of our history and I want to be able to record it. Keeping fingers crossed and thanks in advance, Jill

Hi Jill

Was it one of these, The Talbot in moat Lane near the Bull Ring, The Talbot in Talbot St, Winson Green or the Talbot on Highgate Rd, Sparkbrook? The Talbot on Highgate Rd was my local at one time.

Phil your a star, it was the talbot on talbot street, Winson Green. I now have the photo for my family history. The stories my mum has told me about this place, like my mum getting a boot up the bum for trying to get grandad to come home because his dinner was getting cold. Thank you so much, it's perfect. Cheers, Jill
