Hi all do any of you have a face photo of The swan public house that was on Washwood Heath road.

as the only image I can find is a Google satellite shot.

I think that the Swan was no longer a pub when it was demolished around 2006 or so. Anyway included is a picture of it just before it was pulled down. A pity realy as it had been a landmark on the hill for donkey's years. I wonder if any of the lupins survived in the gardens behind.

Actually you can see that much of the bottom half of the inn was retained and a new addition was added up the hill. So the origins of the lower part of the building dated much further back. The Swan sign seems to be missing; also the urinal lower left. This picture was taken by a member and I can't remember who now. Ansells. What you are looking at is the forecourt parking lot from the Washwood Heath Road sidewalk and I seem to remember that just to the left were a half dozen or so small townhouse cottages.

Hi Rupert, thank you for the picture of the swan pub, as you say it was used as a landmark I myself had given directions to drivers who came to the warehouse and wanted to get to common lane or dews lane.
again thanks

Hi Derek,

Yes, like you I worked at the Met, (Leigh Road) in the 70's and early 80's,
and visited the Swan on several occasions with reps for the obligatory 'pie and pint'.

Kind regards

Dave
