The Royal Oak, Cheapside, B5 ?

Does anyone remember the Royal Oak, on the corner of Rey Street and Cheapside, postcode B5, maybe Digbeth, many years ago, sadly demolished some time back, not sure of actual location as it was many years ago.

It may be mentioned on here somewhere, but the site is so vast and detailed I wanted to cut to the chase and mention it as a new bar thread.

any pictures or information most welcome.

I have replied to your note on the small Heath thread, but will repat here as it is more appropriate. If you go to https://forum.birminghamhistory.co.uk...t=23229&page=9 and look at post 90, there is a picture of the royal oak and also two taken down each side, taken around 1970.

I have inserted Mikes photo here because the link no longer works.

I just spent 20 minutes responding to this, and the damn signal went off and I lost all my work.

Point being, before this establishment vanishes off the forum pages, if any other users have any more information/pictures/tales of this venue, no matter how trivial I would like to hear them.

i had family members run this very place around the time of the last war and before and therefore any tales of visits from around this time from any other users who recall such distant days I would like to hear about it.

Royal Oak, corner of Cheapside/Rea street. 1930s-1960s.

thanks to Mike J for his pictures before, my father took a great interest in seeing the building once again, it's not longer in existence sadly, but any other information from any source would be much appreciated.

Hope there may be others who can lend a hand or tale to this thread.

Sure do.....my mother was, I think, the last but one tenant of the Royal Oak. She had to leave after they built the one way street around it which restricted access. She left in the 1980's. She moved there from the Adam & Eve which she had for quite a few years. She was there when the Birmingham bombings went off.
