Has anyone got an exterior photograph of the Red Lion Ladypool Rd. Sparkbrook? I have two taken inside the pub late 40's or early 50's, and those are posted on the thread 'Our parents pics'. I went there last year to take some photos but it was being converted to yet another restaurant. So missed my chance by just 6 months.

The Red Lion one of the pubs in Sparkbrook / Balsall Heath that I only had a passing drink in occasionaly.

There is one of how the pub was originally, and one taken in the year 2000, and you say it is being turned into another curry house. You would think there was enough in that quarter now.

Strange the one that started them all off in that area the Jinnah on Moseley Rd has long gone now.

Jean,

I don't look at it like that, I have no wish to beat anyone. If I have collected a photo over the years and it helps someone to recall memories then I am happy to help.

If someone else has a photo, and they put that up. I am just as happy for the person who requested it in the first place.

Thats what this site is all about is it not.

Phil,

Just great! Thank you so much for those two photos. I'd looked in the Pub books in our library, but no joy. I doubted anyone would have one. I should have guessed that you would come up trumps. It'll be nice to add them to my interior shots in my family history.
Yes Phil, a.n. other restaurant. I don't know whether you can get a drink in a pub round there anymore, but you wouldn't go hungry!

Cheers again!

Phil I didn't mean it like that. What I meant to say is I am not a betting person but it is usually yourself or Lloyd who comes to the rescue. Didn't want it to sound as though it is a race. You and many others are a wealth of information. Jean.

Thank you Bob for the colour photo. I wished I'd started my family history sooner, I'd have loved to have had my photo taken in there. So I'd have had a 'back then' photo of my family and a 'now' one of me.
Funny I couldn't find one in a book or on the net, and now I've got three!
That's a result.

It's never a race, I'd rather have two photos go up than none. Anyway, I was asleep in front of the telly!
