The Pedley Family

So here we are, standing over the grave of our family killed in the fire at Witton. My distant cousin came all the way from Cornwall to visit the grave. Charles who survived the fire is my cousins grandfather. And Charles was my distant Cousin.285267754_545963386927242_53078019011728959_n.jpg

Thanks for sharing your tragic family story. I am interested in the stories in the stones to be found in the older cemeteries.

so pleased that you and your cousin were able to find and visit your family grave...such a tragic incident

Hi catmadjax have just noticed your post forgive me if i have the wrong family but are you referring to the tragic fire in Adams Street if so my mothers family lived in court 17 Adams St and she told me about the fire and how they had to evacuate the court and remembered the sight of the bodies lying under the street light and she remembered one member of the family who survived the fire but was badly burned and his ear was disfigured not sure if his name was Charles sadley my mother has since died but remembering the name Pedley i thought i would enquire BLUEBOY.

Hi, It was our family yes. Charles Pedley the father survived and his brother Thomas but his brother was burned yes. Most of the family were takenn to hospital before they died though.

Thank you for getting back to me i'm glad you managed to connect with your family i'm sure Mom would of been interested in your journey all the best.
