That rings bells Astonian but not from drinking there. When I was in the girl guides we used to get off the bus at the Peacock and walk down a lane to our campsite?. Used to spend most of the time catching frogs when I was supposed to be on washing up duties. Bye. Jean.

When I first came to Birmingham(1967) I went there several times and I seem to remember that I was told that , at that time, the peacock was the only licensed premises on Cadbury owned land. That was notable at the time, though am not sure why the land was owned by them (or perhaps the company)

Mike

HI MIKE ,
Many Thanks For Your Reply And That The Theory Of Or Should I Say The Question Of Whom Owned The Land , At That Time In Gone Bye ,Its A Possibilty That Cadbury Did Own he Land Because They Did Own Three Parts Of The South Side aOf The City , But In The Next Breath The Joint Owner,s And I Would Say From Far Back When I Can Recall Are Still Today Is Calephorpe Estates They Virtually Own Every THINK In The City Especialy The South Side Right Uop To Kings Norton
And They Have Policy To The Same Ruling As Cadburys You Cannot AlterThe Premises Nor Paint Your Front Door And You Must Use The Sme Materials As The Orinional
A Friend Of Mine Was The Owner Up ToRecently At The Bristol Court Hotel
And The Front Balconys Was Getting In Disrepair And He Asked Me Where To Get Certain Materials From Because Calpthorpe Said He Had To Use The Orinional Materials It Would Be Inresting To Research That One On The OWNERSHIP oF That Land The Peacock Was On , But I Have Just Had An Inpulsive Thought Because Of The Home Near Bye May be It Was The Cadbury Family Whom Actualy Owned It
Best Wishes ASTONIAN ,.;;;;
