THE OLD SWAN Washwood Heath Road

My GG Grandparents ALEXANDER and MARY ANN DAY were pulicans at The old Swan in 1881. I have been searching all the pub threads to try and trace a possible photo of this building. I have found Wendy's ' Old Swan at Sutton Coldfield ' and another of the ' Swan Pool' but assume these are in different locations.
Can anyone tell me if there is a photo in existence of The old Swan, Washwood Heath Road please. I would love to find one to illustrate my rather sparse family history.

There used to be a picture of the Swan, Washwood Heath Rd (opp Common Lane) on that thread, but it's one of many that sadly disappeared in the "upgrade" of the site. The original poster was Postie: perhaps he could be persuaded to re-display the picture here (or there, where it used to be).
I suspect the building now demolished was not the original, I remember it as being typical of the 20s / 30s large pubs around the city suburbs.

Here is one that was on this forum before. Taken just before it was demolished 3 years ago...the older one that is mentioned probably pertains more to Chrissies requirements. If I come across it I will post that one also.

Thank you both for replying. Your picture, Rupert, is very interesting ! The left hand side looks a lot older - I wonder if that was part of the original, with a larger later Victorian ' extension ' on the right. I really hope an older picture will surface.

Ok you have probably visited the thread link : https://forum.birminghamhistory.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2920&highlight=Pubs+childhood
and as you see I thought that might be the case. Go down a bit to see the Swan posts. There are some GE photo's from an older version when the Swan was still there...not used as a pub by then. Anyway it was a super old place and my sister and I used to play in the grounds at the back. Whenever I think of that place I think of Lupins. There were flower beds behind with large lupins in them. Also a small ridge as I remember that we used to run up and down. I think you may be right about the building. Since Postie was the original poster of the old Swan picture he may be able to find it again if he has time.

I looked again at the thread link, and can see where there would have been a photo by postie, however, there is no longer a photo, a thumbnail or a link to bring the picture up. Maybe lost in reorganisation. It's funny you mentioning lupins - I have very fond memories of lupins growing everywhere, in every colour you could think of - obviously they like the clay soil we had in B'ham !
