Gone but not forgotten. R.I.P.
We have a great Navy Services club in our City called The Nautical Club. But I can't find any history or general information, My Uncle Ken Summers was a founder member, They stated the Club with virtually no money I believe!

Tony's dad was a member there for years we used to take him there on a Sunday. I think he meet the Duke of Edinburgh there and had his photo took. His name was Bert Guest

The HMS Hampshire has a Reunion there on 11th October,
all ex Hampshire`s are Welcome :)

Yo Dave :) Nautical Club a nice place, have been to several functions there a few years ago,
Drinks prices about half of what people are paying a few hundred yards up the road in Broad Street "the IN Crowd
I seem to recall the late Doug Ellis (Aston Villa) was a President ? there,,
seems he was a strong Naval supporter & benefactor to the club..
Doug had plenty of knockers via Villa "supporters" & press when they on a low, but few knew his backing of this club eh!
Just thought i would add my bit & best regards to Nautical Club,,
JohnY

I think i was probably the youngest member of the nautical club ever when i visited in 1987... aged 18 (but only just) i had a great time listening to the stories of the brave blokes there. I also got very very drunk! Happy memories and great company!

I used to work at HP Sauce with two old members of the Nautical Club.Does anyone remember Len Goode and Reg Smith. Reg sadly died of a heart attack at work in 1977 at the age of 53.Don't know if Len is still alive as I have not seen him since 1985.I have fond memories of some good nights out with them at the club.
Bryan.
