Guardians of the foreshore girding a crescent bay
Wade the mighty Mangrove arrayed in greenish gray.
Offspring of left parent who in distant lands abide
Seeds floating on vast oceans, drifting on surging tide.
Sinking their roots into mud of some uncharted land
Upon a foreign shore they grow, as sentinels they stand.
Fishes find safe harbor among the roots misshapen,
Haven to the Mud Crab and other clawed crustation.
Mangrove binding all, claiming crescent coast its bride
In seedtime sending forth children to drift another tide.
And so life begins again in some sunny far off clime
Seas prepare their garden for the coming of Mangrove time.
