the last petal

Astonian

gone but not forgotten
T'is the late rose of summer,
Left blooming alone,
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone, No flower of her kindred
No rose bud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes
Or give sigh for sigh

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one
To pine on the stem,
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go to sleep thou with them.
Thus kindly I scatter
The leaves o'er thy bed,
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.

For nine long months,
She carried you,but in the end she died,
She choose to go, so you might
Live long, long before your time.

So you asked why I'm so sad on this bright summer day,
Or why the tears are in my eyes and I seem so far away,
It's just you seem a lot  like her
When your eyes look into mine.
And you smile so much  like she did long,
Long,before your time.
And you  smile so much like she did, long, long
Before your time.
