I must admit that i thought the last survivor had died, forgot the women ! Not too sure whether it is correct to call it active service though. I always thought that involved actual fighting . Please correct if I am wrong
 
Hello Mike. you are of course correct but I did not know where else to post or what to name the thread . It does say she was the last one to see active service, will it be o/k to leave it there?

She is the last one who served, even if it was not active service. I am sure many of those with gold braid did not really see ACTIVE service, both in WW1 and WW2. It was not meant as a criticism of your title. just a query as to the wording of the article
 
whether it was active or not at the time she enlisted, it had the chance of being in action, she was brave to do it and then live a long life afterwards - I like the thought that she lived with her 91 year old daughter, may she rest in peace now.
