the great western

kembar

knowlegable brummie
I believe a relative of mine ran the western between1911-1940 his name was Thomas Underwood
possibly in Aston but not certain,if any one has come across this I would be thankfull.

From Kellys
1913- 1921 No mention of him in licensed trade
1932 Underwood Thomas Arthur, beer retailer, 138 Moor street
1933- 40 Underwood Thos. Arth. beer retlr.(Justice Inn), 158 Scholefield st 7
1943 No mention of pub (bombed?)
Thomas was therefore at 138 Moor St for a period up to 1932. According to McKennas book, this was the Great Western, that opened in 1869 and closed in 1939,

According to the electoral roll, Thomas went to the Great Western between 1922 and 1925
