The Garrison Pub

master brummie
I visited the new peaky blinders in digbeth, and while their i approached member of staff to ask why they had not tried to buy or rent the garrison pub.the garrison pub in garrison lane is mentioned in peaky blinders show on tv , it is also mentioned in gangs of birmingham stories. They said they had approached birmingham city council, and they said theywould not grant permission for it to be used as a public house again.
What a chance for part of our history to be offered to be as a tourist attraction,
especially as author of peaky blinders came from birmingham.
Other towns would have jumped at it if they had connections as we do

I think many people have wondered why they didn't use the real Garrison Pub when the TV series was made, as it seems to be an obvious thing to do. Maybe the approvals process was too daunting for the TV bods to bother with. Did the council explain why they would refuse permission for the pub to be re-opened? Surely it would not be one person's decision; probably would need some sort of Planning or Change of Use committee consideration. Or perhaps the council has other plans for the development of that part of old Brum. I haven't been down that way for donkeys years, so not sure of how things stand at the moment.

I don't know why it was turned down I'm only going what I was told. I do not know either why they did not use the pub for filming. Regards reg morris
