The Factory in Gas Street late 60’s

My regular Saturday night place following an evening in the Alhambra or Top Ten Bar
Hello Sue. I did similar to you but usually on a Sat finding my way late to Gas Street after gigs as I was a pro drummer. We most likely saw each other on the dance floor. For me it was the best place in town and I saw some fabulous bands there: Elmer Gantry, Free, Trapeze, Blonde on Blonde, the Gun. I could go on. I'm sure you saw the same. I was gutted when it closed moving on to Barbarella's in due course but for me the Factory was as good as it got, just right, full of cool sorts and beautiful women in velvets and silks. PS, where was the Top Ten Bar?

Elmer Gantry, Free, Trapeze, Blonde on Blonde,
I remember going there I saw Fairport Convention at the Factory. Me and my old school friend danced (or swayed) with in feet of them Sandy Denny incredible. I was resident singer at the Opposite Lock. Martin opened what was the Factory to be King Arthur's Court. Some nights I went in there and was the folk singer with guitar. When they were not throwing bread at Jasper Carrot he was the jester come folk singer. I have just joined the Birmingham Music Archive (but I had to go back on facebook) I have put a lot about my music history and The Ghost band I was in. I am sure as a musician you would enjoy this site and have your own info to impart. https://www.facebook.com/groups/BirminghamMusicArchive

Hallo @humbleseeker me again!
I went to The Factory a few times, once to see Breakthru (remember them?) and also to see Bakerloo Blues line and a couple of the other of Jim Simpson's Big Bear Folly bands.

I think the most memorable night was in August 68 when my friend and I went to see Tim Rose when John Bonham was drumming with him.
Robert Plant was there that night too and he told us that he had just hitch hiked up from London to see John and he had been asked by Jimmy Page to join the 'New Yardbirds' as they were then!
Who would ever imagined how that would eventually turn out!!

Hello There, I don't remember all that. We have pockets of remembrance don't we. I was very involved in my own singing career then. As time moved on I was working at night. So instead of going to wees bands. I was performing. But in those days we had a chance to see the best.
