Great painting Eric...captures everything we all remember about the corner shops we knew years ago. There were two in the Stockland Green immediate area and that's where all the kids went to spend their meagre pocket money. Thanks for posting Eric.
Our local shop was called Savage's in Raglan Road, Smethwick. I bought all of my sweets there. It was owned by the family of Billy Savage, V.C., hero of the St. Nazaire raid of 1942. He used to work at Mitchells and Butlers, Cape Hill. For details.............. https://www.homeusers.prestel.co.uk/stewart/cornwall.htm.
