The British Oak

I have a picture of a bus on the City Circle Route 19, probably taken i the 1950's passing what appears to be a pub, named "The British Oak Public...."
It obviously isn't the British Oak in Stirchley
Anyone any ideas on this?

I don't think the City Circle crossed Gooch St. I'm attaching the picture

I have a pic' of The British Oak Balsall Heath/Highgate and there was a lamp post right on the corner just by where that bus is, so I don't think it could be that one sorry not much help is it!

Chris, I think it could be that one, just that yours is an earlier photograph.

Perhaps John or Peter could help it looks like the name over the door is

there are two pubs in this thread The British Oak and British Oak
British Oak is in the middle of two streets 1364 Pershore road Harry Walker
The British Oak is on a corner 77 Gooch street
the name over the door Leonard Henry W** could be Wade or Walker not to sure
Kelly's does not name the publican at Gooch street

Well if you look close all three pic's have the words 'The British Oak' as the name of the Pub. So maybe they are all one and the same, taken at different times and with changes made to the area and structure of the building. i.e window replaced where there was once the pub name and the lamp post also removed.

no doubts what so ever this building as stood on this corner since 1855/51 it was number 36 in it's early days and later became number 77 as the street evolved over the years it was later named as the The British Oak prior to this it just designated the address as the person living there was a beer retailer according to all the Kelly's we have.
It's appearance may have changed but it as all ways been the same building
