The Brain Family

Brummie Lisa

knowlegable brummie
My great grandmother was Martha Brain. I'm wondering if anybody else knows that name. Martha's daughter Hannah Maud Wells (Then became Steele) was my Nan. Thank you.

I have a second cousin who married a Christopher Brain. Haven't looked much into his ancestry but he may have been a nephew of Martha's (second?) husband, son of his brother Cyril. Not certain.

Yes I think that's some of the family. Thank you.
I should be very interested to hear any further information you have about that particular family. They were neighbours of ours although I barely knew them. Nevertheless, I have one or two fragments of information about them.

Chris

Sorry for the delay, I'm still getting my family history together so when I see anything viable I will post it on here. I have a photo of Martha Brain if anyone remembers her, though it's probably a long shot.

Thank you so much. Does it say how John Wells died? I can't get any clear information on Ancestry. Thank you for this, much appreciated.

Martha Ingleston ,then wells, then Brain, was my great grandmother, one of her daughter's was Hannah Maud, which was my nan. Martha married John Henry Wells at the Holy trinity in 1906 at Bordesley. Martha is the red arrow and to her left is my Nan. The wedding was for Jack? who sadly died of pneumonia not long after this.

Francis William Ingleston married 6th February 1882 St Phillips,Brmingham
The records say bride Rosena Mourn but as neither could read or write and made a crossmark I think
that the name was written by the vicar as it sounded and I think it was Rosina Maughan

The marriage of 'Jack' would be John Wells,( Marthas son,) who married Minnie Laura Rowe in 1932 and he died in 1933, on the 1939 Minnie L Wells is a widow, living with her mother in Erskine street, she remarried in 1945.
