does any body remember jack kelly the hawker
whom used to walk around around the area of ladywood
and he would always stand out side the bell pub if he was not already in iy drinking his profits
on saturdays mornings he would walk around shouting his wares
of apples ,oranges and the salad tomotoes and many more
he would start at the bell and travel up to the station
on monument rd and down spring hill up to the college arms
down ickneild st down to the mint and the gate and he turf
is main port of cal was the queens and the coach and horses on springhil
then sunday morning even in the rain he would walk back all
around on sunday morning selling the sunday papers calling
out loud the names of all the sunday papers he had for sale
does any body knew where he actuuly lived or come from
i womder whether he was from the kelly fruit and veg family from the whole sale markets in those days
during the fifties and sixties but he always started and came out tipsy from the bell
have a nice day every body and seasons greeting to you all
