The Beat

I saw these at the Birmingham college of Food before they broke.
Wonderful band of their day,and they had more talent than perhaps some gave credit for.Two members went on to be the brains behind Fine Young Cannibals.

I never knew they were from Birmingham?
They are not a band I have ever connected to the city.

They were fringe two tone players, like the Selector etc. Most of that sound was associated with London and Madness,or Coventry a la Specials.

Hello Wessex,Were "The Beat" the group who had a record called THE BEAT?From memory the disc was pressed so that when it reached the end it would jump back,it would play the last word over & over, the last words being THE BEAT.
Moss.
