This 1920s photograph shows a fags and sweet shop on the Pershore Road at Ten Acres. The buildings to the right are part of Selly Park Council Schools. This evolved into Selly Park Secondary Modern Girls' School. The post office adjoined the shop on the other side of the building.
Grew up in Pershore road in the 50s and 60s Adams was a popular shop would buy our sweets from here before going to the pavilion picture house for Saturday morning matinee. You could also buy a dinky car for 2/11 pence I used to play with the children of the owners names were peter and John. Happy Days
