Hi everyone, I wonder if some one could look John Taylor b 1711 who became a button manufacturer/banker - he married Mary Baker in 1734 - I know there was at least one son but I can't find

Re: help please - look up St Martins

sorry must have pressed something in the middle of writing this - I can't find any names of his children - I know there was a son who went on to found (with others) a bank in Lombard St London. I would be very grateful if someone can help because I have a feeling this may be connected to my Taylor family who were all around St Martins/Bordsley/Small Heath. I also have a button maker on the 1851 census - I know there were many of them. Many thanks

Don't know if this is any help. 1849 Whites directory lists in the alphebetical list a John Taylor ,Gilt button manufacturer of Jennings Row. He is not listed in the button section of the trades section, but there is a S Taylor and Son, general button maker, 6 Edmund St.

Hi Mikejee, thanks for your message and for looking that up. I have a John Taylor on the 1851 census who is a journeyman button maker but in 1841 and 1861 he is a shoe maker - so I don't know. But I'm still hoping someone will be able to tell me the names of John Taylor's ( born 1711) children.
