Re: George Taylor circa 1800

Hi
it is a poss that he lived in Coventry. The only drawback to this one is Richard's age. I have a marriage cert for Richard dated 1852 showing his age as 21. Shows father George occ a pumpmaker!!! This marriage took place at the parish Church of Astom

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

My Gt Nan's Wedding Certificate said she was 21, she wasn't she was 16! so don't take it for granted he was 21

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

unfortunately the george taylor prob isnt the one anyway as in 1851 he is down as a weaver. any more info to help? what was richards wifes name?

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

Richard,s wife was Ann Ward age 19. Her father was a Thomas Ward a Tinplate maker. Ann was probably born in Ireland poss Tipperary according to various census

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

well at least we can now find richard in 1861.

richard taylor b. abt 1833 brass dresser born bham
ann 1834 born ireland
betsy 8 richard 3 and ann 1

plus henry ward 28
and samuel butcher 63 both lodgers.

they were living alisson st. bham

i hope we will be able to go backwards with this info

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

must admit i did a double take at that one! but thats what it says and wife ann is still put as born ireland so it is definitely the right one!

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

hi

I wonder if Thomas Ward was in the forces. Or a seaman. I know from trying to trace other Irish relatives there was Military activity in ireland about the time Ann was born

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

Could this be Richard in 1851
Court 6 no2 bordesley st:
George Taylor,Head, 26 Lamplighter
Mary ann Taylor wife, 25
Elizabeth Taylor daugh 3
Anne Taylor daughter 11 month
Richard relative 16 Brassfounder
All born birmingham

and 1841
Princes row off coleshill st

They started early in those days. Perhaps something happened to family and George wasn't father but acted as one?

Only guess. Depends on whether you definitely knoe George was richards father

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

hi
thanks for coming in on this one.

George is shown as father on the marriage cert. 1852 Richard's residence on his marriage is shown as Bordesley. George's occ is pumpmaker.

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

i kept looking at those entries for 1841 and 1851 myself mike.

then i thought i wonder if the george age 26 in 1851 could be richards older brother.

just checked on the igi and there is a birth of george taylor 12.8.1824 christened 1.8.1825 at st. martins father george mother ann

so looks like it is richards older brother!

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

this is looking a bit useful. If this lot run the way my other lot behaved there should be other children between 1824 and 1832.;) I dont get on very well with IGI.

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

found 1 more

sina phillips taylor christened 7.4.1828 at st martins bham

father george mother ann.

wonder whether the phillips could be moms maiden name?

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

you are working well here!!!

My Mum had an Aunty Sina.. Her dad John,s sister. I have remembered something I had previously discounted. There is a Lina Phillips Taylor I think born circa 1829, could he be a brother? Could be Linus.

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

yes there is a lina phillips tayler b. 17.6.1827 christened 7.8.1828 at st martins father george mother ann.

at least you know where all the records will be. st martins

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

Forget the last bit about Lina Phillips taylor i have checked it should be Sina Phillips Taylor. IGI have it listed as a male birth i think it should read female!!!!!

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

Forgive my ignorence is St Martins a church in Birmingham? are they likely to hold birth records? Or have they been centralised somewhere?

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

st martins is a large ancient church in the centre of bham.

i think the records will be with the bham central library.

i found another child i think.

daniel baker taylor b. 15.6.1822 christened 28.7.1823 at st martins

father george taylor mother ann.

Re: George Taylor circa 1800

Thanks for that. i wonder where the Baker bit comes into the scheme of things. i will get a cousin who lives in England to check this out
