SWIFT, Ellis : Cabinet maker

Does anybody know anything about Ellis Swift and his family please? I think he was a cabinet maker.
One of his daughters was Gertrude Swift known as Gertie, who married John Jacob James Ridley. I think Gertie had at least 2 brothers, one of whom family stories say was A Swift, maybe Arthur who was in the Cycling Corps during WW1. Don't know if he survived.

Would be very grateful for any help in unravelling their stories! Thank you!

Thank you! I am really very interested in trying to find out happened to Gertie's brothers during/after WW1. have you any idea where to go? i don't have any subscriptions to any of the major websites at the moment.
 
Hi,

Have you tried the Commonwealth Wargraves Commission Web site. I have made a cursory seach but could not find any of her brothers so they may well however have survived the war. I only checked the local regiments so it may be worth your while to do a detailed search. The web site is www.cwgc.org.

With only the names to go on I feel that you have little chance to find out whether they served or not although judging by their ages I feel that John and Arthur may well have done.
