These were seedsmen, hop and corn dealers in Digbeth and were sucessors to the former Edward Freer business. The factory looks substantial. I wondered if these Sumner brothers were relations to the Typhoo tea Sumners in any way ?

History of Sumner Brothers

The Sumner family business was established around 1820 when William Sumner took over a grocery and druggist business in the Bull Ring area. The business was passed to his sons, John and William, in the 1850s, who later split the enterprise in 1865. John took the grocery and tea dealing side, which led to the creation of Typhoo Tea in 1903.
