Stringer's Miller Street

Valerie Dunbar

Hi was wondering if anyone can help me with information regarding a place called Stringer's in Aston or thereabouts. I know that it was a brass foundry and was probably in Miller Street. thanks Valerie

1932:
Stringer Bros. & Matty Ltd. gas fittings mkrs. Enfield works, Miller st, & 178 Aston rd. T N Aston Cross 1,664
this entry was the same up to after 1944, when "and general brassfounders" was added. By 1963 the gas fitters bit had been dropped and it was "general brassfounders". By the 1970 the firm had moved to Ashford St.

Hi Valerie my father ,g/father,and my uncle worked at Stringers Brass Founders on the Aston rd .It was about halfway between Miller st and Bracebridge st cheers Tom

Hi Mikejee, I just read your post about Stringer Bros. & Matty Ltd.; one of my ancestor's was John (Jack) Stringer who started up that company with his brother Joe and a colleague, Matty (surname unknown). Do you know anything else about this business, as I know very little. Or do you know how I could find out more.

thanks ever so much,

fudge
