Good morning Donna,

I am responding to your posting because my maiden name was Stokes and my grandmother was a Howell before marriage, these surnames caught my attention and whet my appetite.
My father was a John Howell Stokes born 1904 to Albert Pitt Stokes and Alice Mary Howell.
Albert Pitt Stokes was born 1869 to William Stokes and Maria Pitt.
Both Albert and his father William were railway engine drivers.
Alice Mary Howell was born 1866 to John Howell and Mary Hannah Churchley.

Who knows if we have a family connection,
Regards
Joyce

hi Donna,

I haven't any info for you, but I think it isi quite intersting to realise that my relatives must have lived in the same back to backs as Uriah and his family. my ancestors the Halls (Caesar being head of the household) also lived at 35 Icknield square according to the 1861 and 1871 census.

happy neighbours I hope, there were lots of girls in the Hall family,

Julia.
