My great grandmother Minnie Dixon (1880) married John Standley (C1878) on April 7th 1901 St Margarets Church

Tracing the Standley name further back is proving difficult - partly due to other factors

1) I believe that Minnie Dixon's eldest brother Thomas Arthur Dixon married a (Hannah) Lydia Standley
2) I remember well (Amos) Albert Standley (1887) as a relative of my great grandfather who lived in Halesowen.
3) It is possible that Albert was (Hannah) Lydia's brother

John Standley has a fathers name of Willaim on the marriage certificate - but I cannot find any suitable records to tie this up.

(I am also going a bit off track here - with Albert - as he had a younger sister Gertrude - who may have married into another part of my family. (not quite incest!!!)Any info)

One other clue may be the address on the marriage certificate (which I believe to be back to front) My great grandmother was at (2 Monument Sq) Bellis Street in the 1901 census - the other address being given as Johnstone Street which was also in Ladywood

Any assistance would be appreciated

Marriage of Arthur Dixon and Hannah Standley registered 1st quarter 1897, Aston. Vol 6d page 313.

There is also a registration of Marriage between Frank E J Standley and Ellen Dixon, in Birmingham, 2nd quarter 1913, vol 6d page 257.

Did any of them move down south?
There is a birth registration for an Iris M Standley, Mother's maiden name Dixon, in Plymouth, 1st quarter 1915. Vol 5b Page 361.

John Standley (c 1850) Wife Mary Ann (c 1851) and children are in what seem to be lodgings (No 5 rooms, 2 Jerusalem House) in Clerkenwell, London, in 1891.
Note the 'Where born' column includes a 'Hockley' among the 'Warwickshire, Birmingham's.

I didn't see any replies to this thread until now ?

John Standley with his wife Minnie (Dixon) did move tp Plymouth = daughters Lily and (Minnie) May were born in Birmingham - Iris was born in Plymouth

After three girls I think he gave up !!!
