Hi,
I wonder if anyone cna look up a marriage at St Philips, Birmingham for me. The marraige is of a George BARR and a Charlotte CASTLE on 19 September 1824. I am keen to know if it gives any information on Georges father and especially his occupation. Trying hard to push this line back, but it is proving a little difficult:(. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i have a few st. phillips records but not this particular year, however i do have marriages at st. phillips for a few earlier years. theres a marriage of john barr to mary owen on 13 feb 1792 (no other info), and then i checked on igi and theres a christening of george barr on 3 june 1805 at st. phillips. parents john and mary barr. also for same parents a christening of william henry barr on 10 oct 1808. hope this is your family

on 17th dec 1811 there is a christening at st. martins bham of james read, son of john and mary barr

then on 20 sep 1813 frances daughter of john and mary barr. philip street. printer

then on 28th apr 1815 henry son of john and mary barr. philip street. printer

We had someone start a thread about David Barr - could they be related to you? Put David Barr in the search.

ive found the marriage of george barr to charlotte castle but it was at st. martins not st. phillips

george barr of this parish bachelor and charlotte castle of this parish spinster were married by banns on 19 sep 1824 . witnesses were john and mary castle (no other info)

if the john and mary barr ive found are the ones you are looking for, in 1841 they were living bordesley street, bham aged 66yrs and 65yrs. john is listed as printer and they are both listed as being born "in scotland, ireland or foreign parts".

Thank you for all that help, we had some of the information but the extra baptisms you came up with at St Martins, has given us as much proof as we can hope for that the Mary and John in the 1841 Census are the parents of the George Barr that is a direct descendent. You were such a great help, we may be back.

I come from Brum originally, but our time to get back and do the hard searching is a bit diffic ult at present the on line sources are a great help, but sometimes a little extra help is all we need.
