Hi all.

I am throwing this one in because I'm certain there will be someone with the answer as there usually is......for which I'm grateful.

My gg grandfather ....an Irishman named Thomas Fuery .....in the 1861 census was classed in Occupation as 'Collector of St Patrick's Insurance' does anyone know or can throw light on that little chesnut......I do know what he did much later in his life which was also a little more important than the description on this census.....was it a company ????? one wonders.

Thanks for all contributions.

Thanks Mikejee.....

I guessed that someone on here would be able to contribute a massive input that would prove positive.....a very big thanks indeed Mike....I know that later my gg grandfather became involved in a similar but very important role, your input very much appreciated indeed......very many thanks......

Mike
