Hi John

How are you keeping? You will have to keep out of the Wagon for a while until you get that restored.

Hello John I too would like to see the restored item. Thanks for sharing it with us.

If it is Mr C Wilfred Howard here's a bit more info. First from the back page listings in the Sowerby Bridge Chronicle of 1900:

He seems to have been at Christ Church, Sowerby Bridge at that time.

We know from this that he was rector of Elston in Notts.

And here's a photo of the Rev Wilfred Howard in an Elston School photo taken in 1924 taken from this site

Many thanks for that, I have bought a copy of the photo to keep with the slope, more interesting that way.
Regards John.

I think the slope was a gift to Charles Wilfred Howard just as he was about to attend Theological College. He went to St. Bees, Cumberland in 1893 and was ordained deacon in 1895. Here's an extract from Rootsweb quoting Crockfords Clerical Directory.

How thoughtful of the Teachers and Superintendents.
I think we can say that the photo is him as the Crockfords entry has him in Elston in the 1920s.

Just a quick update, all bits put back in right position.
Got to get new boards and cover them, not knowing what was there originally,I have the choice of felt or leather, dark green or maroon, cheapest leather I've found so far is £65, don't feel justified in spending that amount really.
Here's the photo I bought showing the man in question.11-10-14 001.jpg11-10-14 002.jpg11-10-14 003.jpg11-10-14 004.jpg11-10-14 001.jpg

Looks great John. Love the inkwells too. Must be very satisfying to be able to restore something that you know was treasured in the past. And it would have travelled all over England judging by the various places in which the Reverend Howard worked. Viv.
