Hi Frothy: Is there a pub called "The Cock" at Wishaw. We used to drive out that way quite often at one time also my brother and I rode our bikes around there also. Here is a bit of history on St. Chad's. I have put in the link since the script is rather long. Scroll down the page past Manors and Coats of Arms and you will see the history. Thanks for posting the photos and you
are indeed lucky to be living around that area. https://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=42693

Just adding this news article on about uncovering a great mural at St. Chad's.

Yes there is a Cock at Wishaw,I remember it as a nice little farmers pub.:)
Now it's snobby yuppy pub:(

The Cock at Wishaw used to be a nice pub to drive out to of a Sunday evening, but these days you have to vie with the Hooray Henries to get served at the bar.

Way back, my dad's friend had a birthday celebration at The Cock, to which we were invited, but when my dad he phoned to tell us about it he called it The Wok at Cocksure and he genuinely thought it was a Chinese restaurant.

The Cock at Wishaw was a regular at one time a bit to pricey now!:(

I work as a barmaid at the Cock when Mrs Nelson was there. I met my other half there, he was captain of the darts team and he and his Dad played the accordian there.

Anyone remember Winnie and George and John Mitchell, Zena.

It was a lovely cosy little pub then and friendly.

rowan..when i used to go there many moons ago i seem to remember the then landlord had a white staff dog...just trying to think of his name.....the dog that is...:D:D

Lyn,
Don't recall a dog there so maybe it was after Mrs Nelson had left. This is going back into the '60's when I was working there.

ahh rowan...no im am talking about the middle of the 70s....

used to like it there though....
