St Andrew Bordesley Lookups

I have the original marriage certificate for my great grandparents which says they married on 24 December 1920 at St. Andrew's church, Bordesley. I have all the details of the certificate, names: Francis Walter Fellows and Doris Amy Johnson. However, I have reason to believe that the certificate has been altered in the years since, with the real date being 24 December 1921. Also it appears that the ages of the bride and groom were changed from 21 to 20. Would anyone have access to the parish registers for this church, and be able to check whether we are right about this?

Thanks!

There is a marriage recorded on FreeBMD in the Dec Qtr 1921 for Francis Fellows and Doris Johnson.

Yes, that is what makes me think the certificate was altered. The certificate I have quite clearly says 1920 in three places, but I am looking for confirmation via the parish registers that the year was actually 1921. If someone has a spare moment and can check the registers for me that would be great, as it would save me getting another certificate just to know whether the year had been changed for some reason.

Hello there, it might be an idea for you to email the B'ham Register office & ask for help from John Yeates ( I think I have his name right) telling him that there is some confusion regarding the date of this marriage...as you have a cert already with names etc from 1920 I am sure he will be ready & able to help you out...worth a try anyway.

Regards,
Margaret.

Hi Margaret, thanks for your suggestion. I've just found an email address for John Yates at Birmingham Reg Office, so will try that and let you know the result.

Great news - I received a reply from John Yates which cleared up the confusion. The marriage date was 1921 not 1920, and ages both 21.

Thanks for your help.
