I beleive the Sportsman is going to be featured in Sundays (29th August 04) Skys T.V. programme "Britains Hardest Pubs" at 10 pm.

O.K. Phil it,s sorted , i don,t know what to say really it,s very sad to see people like that maybe it,s caused by drinking to much cider, we all know that this is not the B,ham that we know and love. Dek

As you say, if the Sportsman is like that now it certainly has changed. I never remember It as what you would call a good pub, but there again I don't recall it being a cider house.

If thats what it is now then I have seen far worse ones. It looks reasonably clean and tidy for a pub of that ilk and cider houses do seem to attract all the nutters.

Lets face it compared to the Greyhound on Holloway Head the Sportsman looked like a palace.

I would think it was arrange beforehand to have all those nutters in the pub on the day of filming. On an ordinary day I can't even see the pub being that full.

Are you on about the sportsman round the corner from cato street north by the gas works?

Just had a look, I only asked as my uncle and aunt used to keep it, probably in the 1950's 56 onwards perhaps, they were Eno and Winnie two very large people and great fun. Can anyone remember them? they went on to Heathway I think it was called, it was a pub a bit like a bungelow all one level, it was near hodge hill common.
