Solihull Technical College 1972/4

Helen G

Almost a Brummie
I trained as a Nursery Nurse at Solihull techinical College 1972-4.

My best friend was fellow NNEB student, Shelagh M. Walker. Shelagh married Robert G. Davis 29 Feb 1976 at Stratford-on-Avon Registry Office (it was a Sunday and it opened specially) I still have the photos.

Unfortunately, Shelagh and I lost touch after she married but I would love to renew the acquaintance.

I have tried Friends Reunited with no sucess.

I do remember that Shelagh had siblings older than herself and that Robert had been teaching for VSO in Africa while we had been at college. I also seem to remember that Shelagh's father was a reporter or at least something to do with the Birmingham Evening Post. Oh and Shelagh used to drive a bright red pickup truck.

If anyone can offer me any info on how I might contact Shelagh I would be very grateful.

Thanks for reading this

Helen don't give up on friends reunited as I tried to contact a friend from many years ago. That was at least six months ago. To my surprise a couple of weeks ago I had a message from that very person. She has moved from Thornton in Liverpool to Hertfordshire. I have her e.mail address and we are back in touch after all these years. Good look with your search. Jean. ps You could always try radio WM the Ed Doolan show he does those kind of requests.

Thanks Both,

For the encouragement and the suggestion that I try 192.com. Hadn't thought to do that because the people I am usually searching for are long dead ancestors.

Will let you know how it turns out
Helen

Thank you Lloyd!

I paid the dosh, got the address and have contacted Shelagh. I was just so excited when she replied to my letter.

Since then i have also used 192.com to find addresses for other "lost" family just waiting to hear if they want to renew contact or not.

Thanks
again for the tip
Helen

This thread was probably forgotten about a long time ago but I thought you might like an update.

After not seeing Shelagh for about 33 years we spent the day together yesterday at her farm on the Welsh Borders. It was a perfect day, excellent company, glorious spring weather, beautiful scenery and delicious food. Oh and the animals were fun too.

Our husbands got on famously even though they had never met and Shelagh and I chatted away like we had never been apart.

All thanks to you lot and the help and advise you gave me when I was searching for Shelagh

Thank you
Helen
