smith louisa

smithy

master brummie
Hya all I have a louisa smith born app.1893 have sent for a couple of certs as I do know fathers name is thomas smith. But no luck on this so far.
However I am now looking for a marriage for our Louisa smith. I have a louisa dodd living with a thomas smith ( her brother??)in 1920 in Garrison street. Garrison street plays a very large role in these smiths.
It could be that she married a Dodd. I am not able as yet to find a marriage for louisa dodd nee smith. As she was born around 1893 I feel she could have married around 1915 ish.
Any help or thoughts on these smiths would be appreciated.

Re: louisa smith

Hya Mike thanks for that
Yes, have her in the 1901 with her mom,dad etc.
Found her in books in library in Birmngham as Loisa Dodd
living with Thomas from 1920 on.
Never thought of 1911 thanks for that will have a look there.
Have tried free BMD.
At this moment in time I am not able to get to Library.
thanks:rolleyes:

Re: louisa smith

Hya Mike I cannot get the right Louisa smith birth certificate.
I have been told by someone else that Louisa Dodd was Louisa smith.
I thought I might be able to decipher the birth year etc correctly if I could find the marriage. It is this that I now cannot find.
Living with Louisa during the 1920's is at first a violet florence smith.
At a later date it is written as violet florence dodd.
Finally during the 1930's violet then becomes violet florence phipps.
I know that louisa smith was born app. 1893.
I have her (louisa )fathers name Albert edward smith and her mothers name is emily hannah smith nee wilcox.
This smith family became orphaned in 1909 and I know albert died after 1901 but before 1909 as emily's death cert shows her as a widow.

Re: louisa smith

Have you applied to BIRMINGHAM stating that you want the birth certificate of Louisa Smith daughter of Albert E Smith corporation "van" man and mother Emily Hannah Smith nee Wilcox born 1893 and give them your phone number and I am sure that John Yates the genealogist in resident genealogist will find you the correct certificate.

Re: louisa smith

Hya all
Many thanks for all the help that is given so willingly on this site.
I now have the certs for Emily louisa smith 1892. The missing link in my search for the 4 children.

I also have a birth cert for Violet Florence smith 1911.
This being our Louisa's (emily) daughter.
Violet married charles phipps at yardley church in 1933.
So, of course I now have to add the phipps family to the tree.

I sent off the details to birmingham and it was with great delight I received a telephone call asking for a few more details and hey presto.
The staff at birmingham have been so helpful as well as all of you.
Many thanks smithy

Re: louisa smith

Hya all many thanks for all of the help given.
Have had so much information that I have been able to find Lou's grandaughter and grandson,ie violets children.
Louise is really an Emily louise.
Therefor, emily is my husbands aunt and violet was his cousin.
Problem was violet was born 1911 and my hubbie 1936.

More help required if possible and I am not sure if this is the right place or even if I can get this correct.
Have obtained this picture, quite explanatory really.
It my husbands father as a young man. I have found out the uniform is a military one.
Any information would be really appreciated as EMILY, SYDNEY, THOMAS AND PHOEBE were orphaned in 1909 and were in the aston union workhouse.
