Smith - Flora Ada (Ada) and George Smith Birmingham and London 8, High St, S.NORWOOD

tsarah

knowlegable brummie
Anyone got a Smith family on their tree - with links to both London and Brum?

Have a Flora Ada Humphreys born 1908, married to a George A Smith.

Flora's mum is Flora Humphreys, nee McCracken (born 1877) and dad is Thomas Sydney Humphreys 1875 -1946 (His Dad Benjamin Humphreys)

Looking for any family of Flora/Ada and George Smith. They married in 1934 in Lambeth. Their address in 1946 was 8, High Street, South Norwood, London, SE25.

In 1911 Flora Ada was living with her gran Maria Farmer in Sparkbrook in Birmingham - did George and Flora Ada return here? Sure they had kids but can't seem to find correct Smiths born to Humphreys mother.

Help, my brain hurts.

Hi Astonian,

Any help gratefully recieved! The film bit sounds interesting, as all Flora's Aunties and Uncles - Farmer family from Walford Road, Sparkbrook were in the Theatre/ entertainment industry. Aunty - Louise Helen Farmer - Actresss; Mum - Flora McCracken, later married Thomas S Humphreys (Theatre Carpenter) - Actress; Aunty Rose Farmer - Actress/Dancer and trick diver/swimmer, who worked a lot in Blackpool; Aunty Amy/Ann Farmer - Dancer, later primary teacher. Think their g.pa was a Publican in Brum - can't find any trace of him though - Henry Farmer.

Have a little bit more info. on Flora Ada Humphreys, later Flora Ada Smith, think she was born on 18th May 1908 and died in 1979 in Croydon, Surrey/London.

Also have some idea that she was related to current Bakers/ Nicholls that live in Worcester and Brum, but haven't been able to contact them to confirm this. They may well be related to Thomas S Humphreys, sisters.

Thanks for the help, Sarah
