I read with interest about the Shop window Artist showcase. My time there was in 1960 for a couple of years. This is where I got my first work as a singer. I think they had an office Showcase in Thorpe Street too. Think I went there too. At 15 I used to go to Trinity Road on a Sunday lunchtime to audition for bookings in social Clubs. I used to get a lot of work. It was a very professional set up. In fact Pat Ramsey who was a soubrette (singer and dancer) went there too. I worked on many shows with her. The shows we did had a singer (sometimes a dancer too) and comedian. They also had their own small A5 magazine where artists were given write ups. Wish I had kept those !!! If by a miracle anyone has any...let me know. Auditions were with a piano.....many clubs didn't have microphones then....you had to sing UP.
Another name I recall is Andy Gold comedian. That was before the dreaded BINGO..........Happy New Year and don't forget my book Witton available on Amazon.
