Hi mike
Many thanks for giving us the full story on the murder on P C Lines
When I was reading the story line
I noticed the name of the company they broke into milward and co,
Could any chance that being birminghams first or top QC for the birmingham quarter sessions
As it was in those days or the first stripenary for the courts
There was milwards solictors ,co along with Judge Argle as he was around in those days
Once again mike many thanks Alan,, Astonian,,,

Hi Ivor
Many thanks for your reply which i have digested with in take of your valuable
Knowledge on Judge Argle i knew he was a top londoner circuit judge and from the old smoke
And was aware of his reputation for being a hard judge, but i was not quite sure just what age
He was and nor the year he was born so now i know excactly what year he was born
So yes you are correctly right to inform me may be it was another name i was thinking of
I have alot of knowledge on criminal cases and records of past crimes and ledgers before me
I also have inside information on that side of the fence owing to my family tree
Whom today are involved with the legal bussiness even today.
Ivor I do not feel you have offended me in away no offence was taken on my part
I can only thank you for putting me correct
I hope you have a nice day best wishes Astonian,,,

Winson green prison 1928,
One of the most Notorious criminals to be hanged in winson Green Prison
Was ex Policeman James Joseph Power, after he was convicted of committing a murder
Within eye sight of the Gaol. he was hanged in 1928.
It turned out power had been discharged from the police service
Five years previuosly for assaulting a maid while he was on duty
Best wishes Astonian,,,,

Hi Alan. Can you tell me the original purpose of your thread please? It's called 'Serious Riot in Birmingham' which was dated 1875 so I'm a bit confused as to how the 1928 hanging relates to the thread title. Is there a connection? Viv.

Hi viv so when it cimes to the police subjects are you telling me its always gonna be about riots
What am i doing wrong now heading on the forum says police and i just covered a story about the police

Please put me right

Alan, I have deleted your last post.
If you want to post a thread about another subject involving a story about the police that is not connected to the Riot of 1875 please start a new thread with a new heading in the Police section of the forum. Thanks Alberta.

Hi Alan. Hope Alberta's explanation helps. As the thread is specific to the 1875 riot I shall add the date to your heading. For other topics do a search to check if the subject already has a thread before starting a new one. Many thanks.Viv.
