Can anybody please help?
I am trying to trace a Mr John Horace Cox, or any of his descendents,In 1945 he was living at No 968 Stratford Road Birmingham 11.
On the night of 26/27 September 1942, he was the navigator of a Whitley bomber (Z 9275 NF-G) from No 138 special duty sqdn (SOE), that crashed near the village of Vermelles in France .
Both of the pilots and the wireless operator, Frederick George Green were killed.
Mr Cox, and the rear gunner managed to bail out and became prisoners of war.
Frederick George Green was my second cousin, I am tracing his career in the RAF,but I have been unable to establish the cause of the crash,
official records regarding this aircraft and its crew for the night in question just say" Missing".
Regards, Peter Green
