My father was just telling me his uncle, Alf Mabbett, was on the front of a Birmingham newspaper, after being sacked from Scribbans' bakery in Hockley.
There had been a strike, but some staff continued to work. Once the strike was over, the "blacklegs" were sacked, because the rest of the staff refused to work with them
He thinks this was mid-1960s to early 1970s.
Can anyone figure out the date, or add details?
