Schools in Birmingham 1880-1890

master brummie
My gr. grandparents were living at 3 Brighton Place, Winson Green Rd. as shown on 1881 census. I would like to be able to identify the school my grand father attended in mid 1880's when he would have been about 7-8 years old (by the look of him in the photo of his class)

Their municipal ward was All Saints and Ecc. Parish was St. Cuthberts

Suggestions for how to pursue this will be appreciated!

Hi Surante
Think it could have been All Saints infant school ..All Saints Rd Hockley (just a suggestion)

Hi sarunte24
I Think myself it would have been benson rd school
which was the bottom of winson green rd by the prison
alteritively it could have been the top of winson green rd facing the police station or as our maggie as said it may have beenbrookfield but that is avery long walk to that school so i think its benson rd or winson green rd at the top i know most kids fromlodge rd and the surrounding area went there and i know my nephew and neice went there best wishes astonian ;;

I have to agree with astonian, as Winson Green Rd is quite a long Rd. The only school I can see standing is the one on the corner of W.G.rd and Dudley Rd. I have attached somes pics for you. It all depends where Brighton Place was.
