Saying : 'a Sooner'

When I was little and was perhaps ' playing up ' as they used to say, Mom would call me a ' sooner .'
Where on earth did that come from. You know I never heard a bad word come from my Moms mouth. I wish I could say the same.

Maybe "the sooner you behave the better for you"

My Nan used the same expression and that is what she meant

I have always thought a Sooner was someone who was "trying it on". That would fit if you were misbehaving.

I remember finding a little stray tabby and white kitten and persuaded uncle Harry to adopt him and he called him "come sooner".. I asked him why and he said he would rather stay than go. Hope that makes sense. Jean.
