Hello everyone, i need some help please :) i know my Gt grandfather Isaac Sargant is miss transcribed on the Ancestry 1911 census (his surname is his sisters name and she is listed as mother from what i can remember), but having lost all my copies of it i now find i can't find him ..... i have checked on Genes and got the reference RG14PN1802 RG78PN1095 RD384 SD1 ED33 SN232

i have tried searching using this but am obviously putting it in wrong, so could someone please try for me and tell me what name he's under so i can search that or tell me how i enter it so i can look myself, many thanks :)

Re: 1911 census - Sargant

Thanks Lady Linda, that's the one, looks like they corrected it after i mailed them but didn't do them all properly, i thought now i have free access i'd use it to get back all the images and info i lost, i've mailed more corrections to them :) his father is crossed out and listed as in Rubery, not been able to track him any further between 1901 and his death in 1920, he apparently walked out on the family and was never seen again.

Re: 1911 census - Sargant

I presume the Isaac George Sargant,William Edward Sargant and Frank Sargant living at 2 Morton Place Graham Street on the 1922 Electoral Roll, are the sons?

Hi Claire, The 1911 image on Find My Past shows the Infirmity Column at the end which isn't visible on the Ancestry one. Isaac is recorded as an Imbecile and linking that with the "at Rubery" got me thinking that maybe he was a patient at Rubery Hill. I have found Rubery Hill, which wasn't easy !! But unfortunately all the patients are only listed by initials and I think they may be listed surname initial first. I have had a quick scan through the typed transcription but couldn't find a relevant one, but that may be due to a transcription error. I will try and look again tomorrow at the original list.

EDIT: I have looked at the original census and think this may be Isaac, born 1866 (the age given may not be entirely accurate but according to the BMD's there was only one born in Warwickshire around that time and his record was born Sep 1/4 1868 Kings Norton)

Possibly Isaac Sargant 1911.jpg His former occupation is given as Wood Turner which was his fathers occupation also

Yes Lady linda that's the sons, Isaac G my G Grandfather, thanks for that find, i had thought maybe he was in a workhouse and did try searching 1911 under just I. S. and he was a woodturner as was his dad... just need to work out if he stayed there till his death in 1920, i know his wife remarried in 1923 (may need a trip to the archives for patient info)

Thanks Astonian i will have a search threw the threads to see what i can find, it'd be great to see if anyonoe actually knew my Great Grandfather and his brothers as i try to tie up loose ends :)

1925 at 1 Morton Place
William and Mary Ann Seaby,Isaac George and William Edward Sargant
William Edward Sargant listed there in 1926 with forces number 194734 A.C.2, No. 7 (B) Sqd., R.A.F.

Hi claire,
I think if you can get his Death Certificate, the informant may point you in the direction of where he died. Normally the informant is required to give Name, Description and Residence.
I believe Isaac is registered as Sargent, age at death 54 (born about 1866)
Registration District ...Kings Norton,
Inferred County....Worcestershire.
Volume 6d Page 50.
Oct-Nov-Dec quarter, 1920

Thanks Linda i had that one Mary Seaby is his Mother remarried 1923, although i can't find a death for Isaac Sr in the death registers, but that one Lindyloo could be him, Gt Grandad changed his surname spelling to Sargent in his army records during WW1, didn't notice the William Edward RAF entry, so that's a brill bit of info you have got there for me to follow up on as we don't know what became of his brothers....
