Saltley College Primary School

I am new to this site and as far as I have searched I can find no trace of "Saltley College School" Many Saltley Schools have been mentioned but not this one.
It was in Bridge Road and on the next corner in College Road was the Saltley College Training School. Later known as St Peters College. There was a sports field between them which was used by both parties. I attended this School from 1937 to 1940 until it weas bombed during the war. I am now 86 and one of the last to leave the school, and maybe the only one surviving. Or am I?

Hi Harry,
Apologies - it is Saltley Secondary school that was in Belchers lane.

Thought St peters had closed some years ago? I know it was still there back in the '70's

Hi Wendy
I must correct you on this. The Roman Catholic School is in Hartopp Road where I was born. The Saltley College School I attended is in Bridge Road opposite the Roman Catholic Church the Rosary. Kind regards.
Harry

Hi Jennyann
Some of the items are wrong are wrong about Saltley College. There never was a school at the junction of College Road and Bridge Road. My School was a further 500 yards further along Bridge Road. It had 3 classrooms and I think the most pupils it had was about 300. There was a houise about half way along this Road which we boys were told was the caretakers. Opposite the School was the Rosary Church and in the road at the back was the Roman Catholic School. This being Hartopp Road where I was born.
Harry

St Peters college and then Housing Association had two entrances, one in College Road and one in Bridge Road. Right opposite the Bridge road entrance was the Rosary School. The Rosary Church was further up the road on the corner of Parkfield Road.
Yes I worked in the offices which were in a separate building in the grounds.
Wendy

Hi Harry: Have a look at the street that you were born in on the maps section of Google. Put Hartopp Road in the Search Engine and enlarge the street level
and you can "walk" all around the streets, Bridge Road, College Road, etc and perhaps find where the school you attended was located. I have had a look around and there's a lot of changes in that area.
